I am Kathleen Joyce Figueroa or KAT JOY. I am a fine art artist and digital designer/artist, photographer, videographer, video editor, content manager with web design abilities, and more. My graphic design career began as I needed to mock up the signs and murals, that I would paint, for nearly eight years.
Prior to becoming a digital designer/artist, I was a lead artist in Jarel Design studios in Culver City sculpting, painting, and composite fabricating models for movie props, and Mattel toys. After Jarel moved his studio to Ashland, OR, I was still with him – flying or driving up the (interstate) 5, occasionally stopping by a friends’ place near San Francisco on the Peninsula. It was there I soon moved to Burlingame, CA and was happy to find work in digital design. Way before high school I was into photography, video editing, and drawing. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting, from CSU Long Beach. My strong fine arts foundation and now 15+ years of passion for the graphics, digital video arts and web technology, all of which I’ve received formal training, was a seamless progression. Several years of study and professional work in the fine and digital arts has given me unique abilities to take on a wide variety of projects with excitement, creativity, confidence, with solid skills. Today, while I continue to gain experience in ever-changing best practices of digital media, I remain open for engaging opportunities with limitless possibilities.
